Expanded River Rescue Clears Lookout & Expands to Black Creek

Our expanded Tennessee River Rescue at Reflection Riding was a highlight of the year. We partnered with several organizations, businesses, and affinity groups to grow awareness about litter in our waterways. With lead support from Tennessee American Water and Chattanooga Downtown Rotary, the creek cleanup expanded beyond Lookout Creek into Black Creek for the first time ever. We welcomed 23 on-site volunteers with 20 canoes and boats to clean up the creek.

Both REI and Rock/Creek provided double the number of boats we normally have. We partnered closely with WaterWays who coordinates this community-wide event, now in its 34th year. Our team filled an entire dumpster with all manner of junk pulled from the creeks, including a car’s bumper, many tires, lots of bottles, and several buckets. We’ll see you in the fall for the 35th year!
