Red Wolf Conservation in the Spotlight

It was a big year for our American Red Wolf SAFE program. We welcomed Artemis and Juniper to our pack as part of the regular transfers of wolves between conservation facilities. We also had a banner year nationwide with several successful litters including one wild litter in North Carolina! The American Red Wolf (Canis rufus) is one of the most rare and endangered animals in the world. Reflection Riding and our partners have been advocating for their conservation for decades.

In the fall we hosted a brand-new red wolf photography exhibit from National Geographic photographer Jessica Suarez, where print purchases supported the Red Wolf Recovery Program. The shot above, taken on our campus, featured prominently in several National Geographic articles. WUTC’s Scenic Roots also recorded a fantastic interview with Jessica and our own Tish Gailmard.
