How to Spend the Day at Reflection Riding: For The Plant Lover
The most common question we get at Reflection Riding is, “what should we do while we’re here?” Our team put together some great options for how to make the most of your time on our beautiful campus… depending on what you’re interested in. This week: Plant Lovers. You are our people! We know there are lots of you out there who are obsessed with native plants and all the good they do for the world. Read on for a few fun ways you can explore native plants with Reflection Riding!
For the Plant Lover:
Visit the Native Plant Nursery. Our awesome nursery team will help you explore which plants might work in your green space and help you make a plan. Trust us, you’ll learn a lot while exploring the nursery, and you’ll find just the right plants to restore your yard at home, at the office, or at your local school or park. Even a single native plant raised on a patio helps restore the web of life.
Join us for a Weed Wrangle. Several times each year, our Land Conservation team offers volunteer-driven Weed Wrangles (so much fun). Come help us pull invasive plants and restore the natural balance on our 300-acre campus. Keep an eye on our programs and events page for more information on the next weed wrangle - they’re free, open to the public, and great for the whole family!
Explore the Arboretum. You can explore the arboretum at Reflection Riding to learn all about the variety of trees on our campus. As a Level IV arboretum (the highest level in Tennessee), we have a variety of labeled trees, shrubs, and flowers around the property. Use our active iNaturalist project to add your own observations from around the property and identify anything new you come across.
Volunteer with Reflection Riding. We love plant nerds and have a great volunteer program for you to get involved in our nursery and with our land conservation team. Check out these cool volunteer opportunities and apply to get started today!
We hope you’ve enjoyed our series on how to spend the day at Reflection Riding! Do you see anything we missed? Post your ideas to our Facebook or Instagram page… we’d love to hear from you!
