Native Wildlife

For animal lovers

Time Commitment: Recurring time commitment required

Experience: Prior experience OR a willingness to learn required

Our volunteer opportunities in native wildlife help you support our Animal Ambassadors through either guided tours or husbandry efforts.

Wildlife Tour Guide—NOW ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS

As a Wildlife Tour Guide at Reflection Riding, you’ll gain in-depth knowledge about the animals in our care, including each individual’s story and the natural life cycles of their species. Using this knowledge, you’ll lead engaging, educational tours through our animal area, helping visitors connect with local wildlife and conservation efforts. While this role involves working around animals, its primary focus is public speaking and education.

  • Training takes place over 2–4 Fridays and/or Saturdays alongside our Wildlife Curator, after which you’ll transition to independently leading tours, typically about one Saturday per month.

Schedule: Saturdays, 10:45 AM – 2:15 PM

Animal Husbandry—NO LONGER ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS

The Animal Husbandry role focuses on the daily care and feeding of Reflection Riding’s animals. You’ll learn how to prepare and distribute diets, ensuring each animal receives proper nutrition. This is a hands-on position that includes working with predatory species and processing prey items as part of food preparation.

Because of the nature of the work, this role involves direct contact with mice, rats, prey birds (such as quail), and fish, as well as strong smells. Individuals sensitive to these conditions may not be the best fit.

Schedule: Monday-Saturday 8:00 AM – 1:00 PM
