Estate and Planned Giving
Generational generosity
From 1955 to today. Since the 1950s , many have people in our community have had their most formative experiences in nature with us. We are so grateful for the generations of donors who have made this possible. It all started with the donors who founded Reflection Riding and included it in their estate plans.
In the 1950s, Margaret and John Chambliss, and the Humphreys family, made legacy gifts to ensure this beautiful place would be a part of our community forever. At right below, John and Margaret Chambliss take a stroll around Reflection Riding in its earliest days. Their generosity, and that of the Humphreys family and others, built a legacy of support. You can be a part of this legacy.
More than 65 years later, Bob Philp made a planned gift to ensure the Philp Garden, memorializing his father and installed by his mother, will be beautifully maintained forever. Pictured above, Bob Philp poses with the Philp Memorial Garden sign in summer 2021.
Your generosity builds long-term stability at Reflection Riding and ensure that future generations can enjoy this beautiful place forever. How to Make a Gift through your Will

Bequest of specific gift amount - I bequeath to the Reflection Riding Arboretum and Nature Center (EIN #58-1311080), a charitable institution located in Chattanooga, Tennessee, the sum of $_______________.
Bequest of residuary estate - I devise and bequeath to the Reflection Riding Arboretum and Nature Center (EIN #58-1311080), a charitable institution located in Chattanooga, Tennessee, all the rest, residue and remainder of my estate, both real and personal, wherever located. The current estimated value of this portion of my estate is $______________.
Documenting Your Gift
We encourage donors to share their intent to make a planned gift with us in writing. This is important because it allows us to fully understand how you want the gift to be used. Honoring your interests and intent are important to us. You can document your gift by:
Sending us a copy of the portion of your will or other planned giving document,
Including a current estimated value of the gift so we can plan for the future, and
Letting us know if you make changes that might affect the gift you documented with us.
We are always grateful to donors that allow us to share news of their gifts, though our team can provide anonymity as well if that’s what’s right for you.
