Ember

Red-shouldered Hawk (Buteo lineatus)

Born: estimated 2014 (exact date is unknown) Arrival Date: July 28, 2014, from Walden’s Puddle in Joelton, TN

Ember is a stellar ambassador who shares the magnificence of her species. She entered our care in 2014 due to a wing injury, which caused permanent flight damage. Her well-behaved demeanor and tolerance with the public is actually because of her partial imprint on humans! Due to her rescue at such a young age, she knows she is a bird… however, she thinks she should mate with humans!

Ember is in our program rotation, which means she is a possible candidate for our educational wildlife programs. We believe in the animal’s consent, so we will only bring out an ambassador who feels up to the challenge for any given program.
