Master Gardeners Series: Give Yourself a Fighting Chance Against Invasive Plants

Learn how to combat invasive plants in your home garden!

Invasive plants too often outcompete native and other desirable plants in our yards, gardens and natural spaces.  Don will help you overcome qualms, to effectively control these rapidly growing and reproducing non-native plants that so many of us struggle with.

Don McKenzie was raised in Decatur, AL, Don earned a B.S. degree in Wildlife Management from Auburn University, and a M.S. in Wildlife from the University of Missouri-Columbia. He worked as a waterfowl biologist in South Carolina swamps; an advocate for federal conservation policy in Washington, DC; and an Assistant Chief of Wildlife Management with the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission.  For the last 15 years of his career, he was Director of the National Bobwhite Conservation Initiative, promoting restoration of native grassland habitats for quail and grassland birds across 25 states.  Don is a Certified Master Gardener, and a Certified Pesticide Applicator.
