History Paddle on Lookout Creek

Go for a paddle down Lookout Creek while learning about Civil War History!

Join us for a guided paddle on Lookout Creek led by Greg Grant and learn all about the Civil War history that occurred on Reflection Riding's campus! We will paddle to the location of Lights Mill, where 3,000 Union soldiers would have crossed Lookout Creek on their way to what will become the "Battle in the Clouds". Special thanks to Randy Whorton of Wild Trails for clearing trees in the creek so that we can paddle out to Lights Mill!

We will provide all the necessary equipment for this paddle. No experience is required. Open to ages 7 and older.

As you may know, for the past year damage to our boardwalk caused by the emerald ash borer has meant that our canoes, dock, and boat launch have been unavailable to visitors. We know that boat access to Lookout Creek is valued by our members, and we are happy to announce that the boardwalk is now open to the public! However, there are still a few repairs left. The fee for these programs is considered a donation toward getting the boardwalk fully repaired, and if you would like to help us get the boardwalk repaired, please consider making a donation.

Please read and sign the general liability waiver before attending. Each adult attendee must sign this waiver to participate. Parents/legal guardians must sign a waiver for each child participating.

As an outdoor facility, our programs and events are almost always dependent on the weather. In the event of severe weather, programs may have to be cancelled.
