Native Plant Apprentice

Shandelle is currently a student at UTC scheduled to graduate in December 2024 with an Environmental Science degree in Biodiversity and Resource Conservation. She is curious by nature and passionate about learning about plants and ecology and being outdoors. She has previously worked at Custom Landscape and Design as a caretaker in the nursery, designed 3D custom residential outdoor spaces for Southern Hearth and Patio, and completed volunteer work for Sculpture Fields, City Farms Growers Coalition, and Crabtree Farms working with plants. She has also worked as a guide on the Ocoee River, taking guests down the river and always pointing out the flora and fauna along the way.

She is an environmental advocate and currently active in the Chattanooga Park City initiative and the Save the Bend movement. In her spare time, you’ll generally find her with her husband and fur babies, tromping through the woods hiking, climbing, playing in or on the water, or performing on stage in a bluegrass band.
