Lead Naturalist
Emily (she/her) is from Spring City, Tennessee where she grew up on a farm and developed her love for the natural world. This led her to earn her Bachelor of Science in Biology with a botany concentration from Tennessee Technological University. While in college she was a teaching assistant, lab technician, and also conducted research on grassland plant communities.
Emily began working at Reflection Riding in 2023 after moving to Chattanooga. She started out working in the Native Plant Nursery and removing invasive species but her role has since expanded. Emily loves to see people cultivating relationships with nature and gets to witness that often with her role as Lead Naturalist. Her priority is environmental education and within that is managing the Native Landscape Management Apprenticeship program.
During her spare time, Emily enjoys reading, botanizing, birding, and spending time with her husband and dog.
