American Red Wolf (Canis rufus)

Clay is an extremely outgoing wolf. He was once released into the wild, but he was recaptured for his own safety. He is too comfortable around people, which is not a good quality for a successful wild-release animal. He will likely live under human care for the remainder of his life. Clay is also a large wolf, weighing nearly 68 pounds.
Clay is visible to the public in our Native Animal Exhibit. He can be viewed by the public during our Wild Wonders: A Close Encounter with Native Animals tour every Friday and Saturday. His confidence and curiosity make him readily visible.
