Bonnie

American Kestrel (Falco sparverius)

Born: estimated April 1, 2014 Arrival Date: August 14, 2024, from local rehabber

Bonnie is a very bold bird, given the small size of the American Kestrel. Unlike her brother, Clyde, she is confident and energetic. Being the smallest falcon in North America, she has one of the biggest personalities of any bird Taylor Berry, our Wildlife Curator, has ever worked with. At 117 grams, she acts like she’s the size of an eagle.

Bonnie’s courageous attitude makes her a great student for free flight. American Kestrels are some of the most agile birds in the world who can dive and hover! Bonnie is currently in training to lure fly, which is a form of free flight that shares their aerial acrobatics.

Bonnie not readily visible to the public during her training; however, stay tuned for upcoming programs that share her aerial abilities!
