The usual quiet of a Reflection Riding visit belies what happened there in the eleventh month of a year nearly sixteen decades ago. Lookout Creek was a battle line and on the drizzly, cold, 24th of November, 1863, Reflection Riding’s fields and forest became forever more part of a battlefield. The Battle of Lookout Mountain brought historic status to that west side of the mountain. In this one hour, three quarter of a mile round trip walking program, Chickamauga and Chattanooga National Military Park Historian Jim Ogden will relate the events that made the grounds of today’s Reflection Riding a part of some of the significant history that has shaped our nation.
These programs will happen outdoors, so don't forget to dress for the weather, wear sturdy shoes and bring along anything else you might need to enjoy time outdoors in this season. In the event of severe weather, program may have to be cancelled.
