Plants of the Cherokee

Join one of our naturalists to learn how the Cherokee used native plants around our region.

Have you ever wondered how our region’s native peoples interacted with plants? From homeopathic recipes to ceremonial rituals, our native plants are the star of this story! Join one of our naturalists on a walk and talk to learn how the Cherokee used these plants. We will discuss medicinal, edible, and ceremonial uses as well as the Cherokee names and legends associated with the species. Take a step back in time and reconnect with our native plants and people. It's going to be a lot of fun!

These programs will happen outdoors, so don't forget to dress for the weather, wear sturdy shoes and bring along anything else you might need to enjoy time outdoors in this season. In the event of severe weather, programs may have to be cancelled and refunds offered.
