Explore the Native Grasslands of Southeast Tennessee [Field Trip]
9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. • Reflection Riding Arboretum & Nature Center
Export to Outlook | Export to iCal

Join Zach Irick, a Biodiversity Explorer for the Southeast Grasslands Initiative, for an introduction and exploration of the Native Grasslands of Southeast Tennessee. During the course of the program, Zach will discuss the history of grasslands in Southeast Tennessee, the ecological importance of this ecosystem and help identify some of the keystone and rare species within these plant communities. He will also discuss the wildlife implications of this disappearing habitat.

After his presentations, we will board the vans and drive out to the Pine Savannah at Reflection Riding to look at this plant community. We will then take a one-hour ride to Little River Park to look at some of Zach's study sites where endangered species persist. Bring your own lunch and plan on eating on the van ride. We will leave Reflection Riding at around 12:30 pm and return at around 5:30 pm. Take this opportunity to learn from an expert on these amazing and diverse plant communities.
