Level IV Classification

Level IV Classification

The Tennessee Urban Forestry Council (TUFC) and the Tennessee Federation of Garden Clubs, Inc. (TFGC, Inc.) joined efforts in 2000 to certify Arboreta throughout the state of Tennessee.

The certification program sets standards for what can be called an Arboretum for public educational purposes.  Under the Tennessee Arboretum Certification Program, Reflection Riding Arboretum and Nature Center is certified as a Level IV Arboretum.

To meet the criteria established for a Level IV Arboretum, Reflection Riding has more than 140 identified and labeled tree species.  In addition, we provide a tree map pamphlet with information on our tree collection for self-guided tours, we have volunteers and staff available to conduct directed tours, and we publish a monthly e-newsletter with Arboretum information and updates for our members.

We maintain our status as a Level IV Arboretum through periodic re-certification examinations that the TUFC conducts.
