Laura Shropshire

Lead Naturalist, Summer Camp Co-Manager

Team member since 2023

Laura was raised in a small town in Northwest Georgia. She has always loved the outdoors and learning about animals and the world around her. As a child, she could be found looking for insects, climbing a tree, or swimming.

Laura always knew that she wanted to pursue a career in environmental science, so in 2016, she took the first steps in completing that goal by moving to Chattanooga. Once here, she became a volunteer at the Chattanooga Zoo where she later became a full-time staff member in the education department. While in this role she had the opportunity to teach educational programs to people of all ages, gain experience in handling and caring for animals, and assist in the support of many programs.

Laura is a current student at UTC where she is pursuing a degree in biodiversity, natural resources, & conservation. When Laura isn't working she will likely be curled up on the couch with a book, her husband, and her pets.
