Our Green Anole has coloration changes based on mood, temperature, humidity, and health. Its color can vary from bright green to browns and grays. The anole has a slender body and pointed snout. Males have a pink flap of skin that hangs under the neck, called a dewlap, which they use in attracting the females.
- They are often referred to as the American chameleons, although they are not in fact related to chameleons.
- Green Anoles have adhesive pads on their feet, called lamellae, that allow them to crawl up walls like a gecko.
- The green anole is the only anole native to the United States.
