Green Anole

Green Anole

Our Green Anole has coloration changes based on mood, temperature, humidity, and health. Its color can vary from bright green to browns and grays.  The anole has a slender body and pointed snout. Males have a pink flap of skin that hangs under the neck, called a dewlap, which they use in attracting the females.

Fun Facts:

  • They are often referred to as the American chameleons, although they are not in fact related to chameleons.
  • Green Anoles have adhesive pads on their feet, called lamellae, that allow them to crawl up walls like a gecko.
  • The green anole is the only anole native to the United States.
